If you're a voter in the City of Eau Claire, have a business here, or are just interested in the direction of city government, there is an important event coming up Thursday evening:
Candidate Forum and Meet & Greet
Eau Claire City Council At-Large Election
Thursday, March 21, 6:30 p.m.
Chippewa Valley Technical College, Business Education Center
620 W. Clairemont Ave., Commons Area (park in any CVTC lot)
This event is organized by the Leader-Telegram, WQOW News 18, Wisconsin Public Radio, Valley Media Works and the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce, and hosted by Chippewa Valley Technical College.
Why this is important: There will be 10 candidates running for the 5 At-Large positions on the 11-member Eau Claire City Council. There will be a Primary on Tuesday, Feburary 19, to narrow the list from !2 to 10 candidates. Then the top 5 vote getters will be elected to three-year terms at the April 2 General Election. The candidates for these seats come from a wide variety of backgrounds, many with differing views of the role and issues to be addressed by the City Council.
Schedule
6:30 p.m. Moderated Q&A on questions related to Eau Claire city priorities
8:00 p.m. Informal Meet & Greet where you can talk individually with the candidates
Be sure to encourage your colleagues, friends and neighbors to attend this event. It's open to the public, there is no charge to attend, and no pre-registration is required.
We hope to see you March 21st.
P.S. The organizers of this event have also scheduled these additional Candidate Forums in competitive local races before the April 2 General Election:
Thursday, March 7, Eau Claire City Council President
Thursday, March 14, Eau Claire School Board
